Helping your child feel comfortable can make dental care easier for the whole family. At Izzy’s Kidz Dentistry, pediatric sedation dentistry in Pompano Beach, FL is available for children whose fear, anxiety, age, or treatment needs make dental visits more difficult. Options may include nitrous oxide, oral conscious sedation, IV sedation, or general anesthesia. Our pediatric dental team evaluates your child’s needs and explains the recommended option so parents know what to expect before treatment begins.
Some children become nervous when they see dental instruments, sit in the dental chair, or need a procedure. Others may have difficulty staying comfortable during longer treatment. Pediatric sedation dentistry can help make dental care more manageable for children who need extra support during their visit. The right approach depends on your child’s age, health, level of anxiety, ability to cooperate, and the type of dental treatment needed.
At Izzy’s Kidz Dentistry, we focus on more than completing a dental procedure. We want your child to feel respected, understood, and cared for throughout the visit. Our team discusses your child’s needs with you and explains the available sedation option before treatment. Depending on the situation, this may include nitrous oxide or laughing gas, oral conscious sedation, IV sedation, or general anesthesia.

Every child has different dental needs and comfort levels. Our sedation options are designed to give your child the appropriate level of support based on their individual situation and planned treatment.
Nitrous oxide, often called laughing gas, is a mild form of inhaled sedation used to help some children feel more relaxed during dental treatment. Your child breathes the gas through a small nasal mask while remaining awake and able to communicate with the dental team.
Oral conscious sedation uses medication taken by mouth to help a child become more relaxed during dental care. It may be considered for children who have dental anxiety or have difficulty remaining comfortable during treatment.
IV sedation delivers medication through a vein and can provide a deeper level of relaxation than lighter sedation methods. It may be considered when a child has significant anxiety, difficulty cooperating, or more involved dental treatment needs.
General anesthesia creates a deeper state of unconsciousness during dental treatment. It may be considered for certain children who cannot tolerate dental treatment while awake or who require more extensive care. The dental and anesthesia teams evaluate the child’s needs and provide parents with specific instructions before the procedure.
Pediatric sedation dentistry can make dental treatment easier for children who need extra support during their visit. The right approach may help reduce anxiety, improve comfort, and allow the dental team to provide needed care in a calm and controlled setting.
Some children feel worried or fearful about dental treatment. The appropriate sedation approach may help them remain calmer during care.
A calmer child may have an easier time staying in the dental chair while the dental team provides needed treatment.
Some dental treatments take more time than a routine exam or cleaning. Sedation may help certain children manage longer appointments.
Our team guides parents through each step of their child’s sedation visit, from the initial evaluation to treatment and aftercare. We explain the recommended sedation option, preparation instructions, and what parents can expect so you and your child feel informed and prepared.
We first learn about your child’s dental needs, medical history, anxiety level, and previous dental experiences.
The dental team explains the sedation options that may be appropriate for your child’s situation and answers your questions.
We create a treatment plan based on your child’s dental needs and the type of sedation being considered.
Before treatment, parents receive instructions about preparing their child. These instructions can vary depending on the sedation method and should be followed carefully.

From scheduling to leaving our visit, every step felt kind, professional, and tailored to my child specifically. The atmosphere is clean and pleasant and the dentist and his wife helped my daughter feel very much a part of the experience. I also learned a few tips that we did not to help at home for her dental hygiene! After having found them, we will go no where else!
